Google Dominates Mobile Search Market - So can you!

With Google having about 65% of search engine market share, they remain the dominant force in search. Research this July estimates that Google dominates 98.29% of all mobile search!

Mobile search is growing, and having first page placement on Google is increasingly important.

New smartphones seem to be released on a monthly basis. Android based smartphones offered through Verizon, Sprint and others are designed to provide easy mobile search. The Android operating system benefits from tight integration with Google Maps, Google Places, Google Navigation and the implementation of a "near me now" search option. These features along with an ever increasing number of mobile searches are helping to fuel Google's dominance.

Mobile search is the new portable yellow pages. Here's how to make your business stand out.

  • Create a Google Account.  If possible, use an email address at your website's domain name.
  • Using your Google Account, claim your Google Places listing. This will allow you to make changes and updates, and prevent others from taking control of your listing.
  • Make sure that critical business information, such as your address and phone number, is correct.
  • Upload pictures & video.  These are displayed next to your listing in Google Maps and can really help you stand out from the crowd.
  • Add additional information about your business, and make your listing as complete as possible.

  • Get customers to review you on Google Maps.  This will go a long way to moving you up in the listings.
